Henry negotiates his normal life on Earth with secret sojourns to wondrous lands, accompanied by his friends Jon and Jen, who through gene therapy can morph into a wolf and cheetah respectively; Miles, an old country soldier rabbit, full of fight and plain wisdom; and his best companion Eulalie, the pert fairy, fair of speech and rich in heart. The fantasy is explained through science and informed by human psychology as the protagonists learn the value of individuality and friendship and the worth of personal struggle and achievement. The story conveys that the world, for all of us, but mostly for open-minded and open-hearted youth, is no more than possibilities we can each choose to realize.

This is a brilliantly written book for child and adult. Mushin Knott is a master story-teller - she taps beautifully into child psychology, school life and the local geography of Virginia. Every element of the fantasy the author has weaved is based on logic and science .... it impresses upon the young reader to think rationally while reading the fast-paced fairy tale of Henry the chosen one and the astral Eulalie, as they go about defeating the hypno-food induced totalitarian dystopia of Big Brother Mocarsto. Ah, there are so many levels to the story! And I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Knott's style of writing .... for example, little Henry "......... loved having the house to himself when all was quiet, with the only sound a low hum of possibilities" - love it, love it ..... in my opinion, better than Harry Potter!!Product details

This is a smart and funny fantasy epic that is entertaining for adults and both exciting for and understandable by tweens and teens. Classic themes of good vs. evil and the hero's journey are explored in ways that draw parallels to events we see unfolding in the real world, like the contrast between mob mentality and the power of the individual ("The odds don't matter when you are the one in a million."). The cast of quirky and memorable characters will leave you hoping for a sequel!
I like this book because,unlike other books,this one starts right in with the story and not an unnecessarily long introduction or prologue.
Wow, This was such a great book! So well written, and such a clever and inventive story. It was intelligent, but also really sweet. I loved, loved it & can't wait to read more from Mushin Knott. Thank you for the great book!
This book is a great read for fantasy and science lovers, for adults and teens, and for anyone who wants to experience a fabulous fantasy. The story line is intriguing and you will defintely fall in love with Henry . . . . read it - you'll absolutely love it. When is the sequel?
If you like the Harry Potter series, this is a great book for you. The stories and characters are quite imaginative with an infusion of basic sciences. Setting the stage for such an adventure is a challenge, but once you get past that, the book is difficult to put down. Fun for young and adult readers and they learn a bit of science at the same time!
Very much enjoyed this book. It's a fun ride that manages to seamlessly bring together quantum physics, baseball, fairies and an average boy. The reader soon discovers young Henry Harris is anything but ordinary as this reluctant hero faces colossal challenges and literally saves the world.
This is a timely and timeless tale that inspires the reader to explore their own feelings on the meanings of life, family, friendship and self sacrifice. Great for teens and adults alike.
The author cleverly and imaginatively wisks the young hero to other worlds where interesting figures, both friends and foes, exist. This is a book for older children and young teenagers. There is plenty of excitement and suspense with very little violence. The author adds key life lessons and ways one should conduct him or her self socially without preaching. These lessons are also an important part of the book. I am a grandparent and enjoyed reading the book myself. I will be giving a copy to my grandchildren.
