I love Patricia's non-judgemental style of writing and telling a story in a way that you can really connect to her characters. I was able to see similar personality traits in the people around me. Her passion for spiritual growth is so evident and the way she writes about it is so profound. She has a real gift for writing and communicating important messages about living a full, happy life. Most importantly in this book the challenge is to lift the "Veil of Illusion" or what you want other people to believe about you and really see who you are inside. If you are looking for an extremely enjoyable read, with true characters, romance and a touch of the metaphysical--you will love Veil of Illusion. The people in this book are so real you want to go out for coffee with them. The twist of plot is enticing and surprising. You won't put this down until you read the last page.
I must tell you that I bought this book after reading Patricia Sheehy's enjoyable novel Field of Destiny, and loved this one even more. It's really hard to say why this book, "Veil of Illusion" struck me as such a terrific read, but it did. I think she did a great job of character development. One of the signs of a great book for me, is when you just can't put it down. I read "Veil of Illusion" in two days, then passed it on to a friend. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, and really kept hoping. Read it. You won't be disappointed.

Veil Of Illusion is a love story with an air of mystery, and the connections between the characters and their experiences are plausible.
A believable tale, with just the right amount of modern spoken language and descriptive narrative makes the premise of the backstory realistic and worth pondering.
Having never read a metaphysical novel before, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Veil Of Illusion was an easy, satisfying read.
I have even deemed this novel worthy of a second reading!
This book's title has a double meaning. One is the 'veil' that most everyone wears to protect themselves from daily hurts and getting too close until we get to 'know' another person well, and the 'veil' that separates our current life from the lives of those that have passed, or even, in the case of reincarnation, our own previous lives.
This book is both a mystery of a young woman who has just suddenly become a widow and is searching for the reason her beloved was ripped away, and a true romance of a eternal soul seeking out her eternal soul mate.
Ms. Sheehy has very clearly done a great deal of study on the subject of reincarnation and also has studied or experienced the pains and joys of love and loss. It shows in this excellent story. While it is a fictional novel, you can feel the truths pouring from each paragraph. The book reaches our romantic souls as the feeling that , we the readers, have also walked on this journey of Caitlin Saunders.
The mystery portion of the book was amazing in it's complexity. The author lets us readers sneak a glimpse into the solution, yet, her character, Caitlin remains vulnerable and naive. As a reader, I could sense the lesson coming but was shocked by the manner of delivery. I became emotionally invested in Caitlin, Derrick, and Marc. I was saddened but understood the change of relationships throughout the novel. In real life we constantly gain and lose both friends and family as we grow and other's do not.
This book had so many levels upon which I give the five stars. I shall be looking for Ms. Sheehy's other novels.
A page turner you never want to end just like her other book Field of Destiny. I highly recommend.
Who hasn't wondered about past lives? The subject is facinating, and the story of a young widow's stuggle to make sense of her husband's death, while being torn between the attentions of two suiters, is gripping. Pat Sheehy knows her craft--the writing is fast paced, but thought provoking. This is not a book you'll nod off over at bedtime.
Whether or not you believe in soul mates or reincarnation, Patricia Sheehy's "Veil of Illusion" offers a highly satisfying journey to a realm beyond what is known, what is comfortable. While searching for truth to overcome sorrow and deception in her life, Caitlin Saunders finds love emerging from another place and time, convincing her (and this reader) that true love is not a coincidence. Sheehy delivers a complex plot with skill and sensitivity. Her can't-put-it-down pace drives the story through some surprises and on to a terrific finish!
